About Our Mastering Studio
Where acoustic science meets analog artistry in a purpose-built mastering environment
Acoustic Design Excellence
LB-Mastering Studios was designed from the ground up as a dedicated mastering facility, with acoustic treatment engineered by renowned studio designer John Brandt. Unlike converted spaces or multipurpose rooms, our mastering suite was purpose-built to provide the most accurate listening environment possible. Every surface, from the custom bass traps to the precisely positioned diffusers, was calculated to eliminate room modes, control reflections, and create a neutral acoustic space where mastering decisions translate accurately to all playback systems.
The room's acoustic design focuses on achieving flat frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz, with particular attention to low-frequency accuracy—the most challenging aspect of any listening environment. Our corner-loaded bass traps and strategically placed absorption panels eliminate the standing waves and resonances that plague most rooms, allowing us to make confident decisions about bass content that will translate correctly whether your music is played through high-end audiophile systems, car stereos, or smartphone speakers. This level of acoustic precision is essential for professional mastering, where even small frequency imbalances can compromise the final product.
Curated Equipment Selection
Our equipment philosophy centers on combining the best of analog and digital technologies to achieve results that neither domain could accomplish alone. The analog signal chain features carefully selected vintage and modern equipment chosen for sonic excellence rather than brand recognition. The Sontec MES435D parametric equalizer, considered by many to be the finest mastering EQ ever made, provides surgical precision with musical transparency. The SPL Iron compressor delivers the smooth, natural dynamics control that digital processing struggles to replicate, while our collection of tube gear—including the Stam EQP-1AS+ Pultec EQ and P331 Whitestone amplifier—adds the harmonic richness and warmth that makes analog mastering distinctive.
On the digital side, we utilize industry-leading converters from Burl Audio, Merging Technologies, and Grimm Audio, ensuring that the transition between analog and digital domains maintains absolute fidelity. Our monitoring system, anchored by Tyler Acoustics MM5x main speakers and Rythmik Audio F15HP subwoofers, provides reference-quality playback with extended low-frequency response and pinpoint imaging. Every piece of equipment in our signal chain was selected through extensive listening tests and real-world mastering sessions, creating a cohesive system that delivers Grammy-winning results across all musical genres from classical to hip-hop, jazz to electronic music.
44 Years of Mastering Excellence
A legacy of technical precision and musical artistry
Since 1980, LB-Mastering Studios has been at the forefront of professional audio mastering, evolving alongside the industry while maintaining unwavering commitment to sonic excellence. Our 44-year journey has encompassed every major format transition—from vinyl to CD, from analog tape to digital workstations, from physical distribution to streaming platforms—and through each technological shift, we've maintained the core principle that great mastering requires both technical expertise and musical sensitivity. This experience informs every decision we make, from equipment selection to acoustic design to the mastering techniques we apply to your music.
The studio's Latin GRAMMY Award and 11 Billboard chart placements represent not just individual achievements but validation of our mastering philosophy: that the best results come from combining vintage analog processing with modern digital precision, housed in an acoustically optimized environment, and guided by decades of experience across every musical genre. Whether we're mastering a classical string quartet, a hip-hop album, an electronic dance track, or a rock record, the same meticulous attention to detail and commitment to sonic excellence applies. Our studio tour showcases the tools and environment that make this level of quality possible, but the true differentiator is the experience and musical judgment that comes from 44 years of dedicated mastering work.
When you choose LB-Mastering Studios, you're not just accessing world-class equipment and acoustics—you're benefiting from nearly half a century of mastering knowledge, from understanding how different genres require different approaches to knowing exactly how much processing is enough without going too far. This combination of technical resources and accumulated expertise is what transforms good recordings into commercially competitive, emotionally impactful masters that stand the test of time. The studio you'll see in this tour is the physical manifestation of that commitment to mastering excellence.
