Luis Berrios-Nichols' distinguished career spans more than four decades of continuous evolution and achievement in the audio engineering field. Beginning his professional journey in 1980 as a recording engineer in Puerto Rico, Luis quickly established himself as a sought-after talent in the Caribbean music scene, working with prominent Latin artists across salsa, merengue, reggaeton, and tropical music genres. His early work in Puerto Rico's vibrant recording studios provided invaluable experience in capturing live performances, managing complex multi-track sessions, and developing the critical listening skills that would later define his mastering career. In 1988, Luis made history by becoming the first recording engineer instructor in Puerto Rico at the School of Music in Carolina, sharing his knowledge with the next generation of audio professionals and helping to establish formal audio engineering education on the island.

The transition to mastering in 1997 marked a pivotal turning point in Luis' career. What began as a favor for friends—providing mastering services for their independent releases—quickly evolved into a full-time specialization as word spread about the exceptional quality and attention to detail Luis brought to every project.
